Patient Services

Rochester Regional Health Laboratories offer convenient hours and locations across the greater Rochester area. Many of our Labs open at 6 am, six days a week. For children, our child-friendly approach at our pediatric service centers will make their laboratory visit more enjoyable. For Workplace Drug Testing, we have trained personnel to handle collection and documentation.

Home Lab Services

If you or a family member is homebound, the Rochester Regional Health Home Lab Services team will come to your residence to provide blood collection services.

Who Qualifies for Home Lab Services?

Home blood draw procedures are available to:

  • Patients recovering at home from surgery or a short-term injury
  • Patients with long-term laboratory needs from chronic or long-term illness

Our highly-trained phlebotomists partner with your physician or home health agency to provide exceptional, comfortable service. Our home blood draw team is equipped to collect specimens from patients of all ages so that necessary lab work can be performed to:

  • Monitor your condition
  • Promote your recovery
  • Maintain your health

You qualify as homebound if you are unable to leave your home with ease. This does not include the inability to drive or lack of transportation. When you are no longer homebound, we will transfer your blood draw order to one of our Laboratory Patient Service Centers.

What to Expect

You can expect a Rochester Regional Health phlebotomist to arrive at your home between 7:00 am and 3:30 pm on the day of your appointment. We will call you to let you know when we are on our way. To prepare for our arrival, please do the following:

  • Let us know about any special instructions for gaining access to your home or building
  • Secure all pets prior to our arrival so your phlebotomist can safely enter your home and perform your blood draw without interference
  • Please call us 24 hours in advance if you need to reschedule your appointment
  • If you are not at home at the time of your appointment, our phlebotomist will return on your next scheduled day or as recommended by your physician

Note: Your service will be discontinued if you have chronic, frequent absences.

Geographic Reach

The home blood draw team serves patients in Rochester and Monroe counties, with limited collection areas in Wayne and Ontario counties. Each year our team:

  • Manages 30,000 home visits
  • Drives approximately 140,000 miles

Personal Health Screening

At Rochester Regional Health Laboratories, our personal health screening options can help you monitor cholesterol and blood sugar, confirm a pregnancy or detect a potential health problem. While these tests are not meant to take the place of regular doctor’s visits or follow-up care, the results can help you take a more active role in your healthcare.

Health Screening Options

The following tests are available at our Laboratory Patient Service Centers during regular hours of operation:

Specific conditions

  • Glucose for blood sugar levels
  • Hemoglobin A1c (HB A1c) to monitor blood sugar
  • Pregnancy (Serum)
  • Pregnancy (Urine)

Heart health-heart risk

  • Cholesterol

Cancer screening
Colorectal-fecal occult blood (X3)

What to Expect

Most results are ready within 24 hours. A complete report will be mailed directly to you. If you’ve given us permission to share results with your doctor, we’ll send the results. Your doctor may keep this as part of your medical record, discussing treatment options with you or ordering additional testing if necessary.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why am I seeing new signs for Rochester Regional Health Laboratories?

Beginning in 2017, ACM, Rochester General and Newark Wayne Patient Service Centers (PSCs) were united under the “Rochester Regional Health Laboratories” name and logo.

How will this change affect me?

You will have the same great phlebotomists, service, and diagnostic quality you have come to expect, as well as improved access to PSCs; many more locations with convenient hours of operation. We look forward to continuing to meet your laboratory testing needs.
